Air quality
The City of Turku monitors the air quality constantly with seven monitoring stations (for SO2, NOx, PM10, CO2). The air quality index including all the mentioned aspects is available on the internet 24-hours a day and also reported to the City Government 4 times/year. The days with good or satisfying air quality were 256 year 2002 and 280 days year 2003.

Look here for daily updated information. The page is in Finnish so a little translation could be in order. Purple color states for "very bad" and green states for "very good".

Green spaces in the city 

The amount of parks the city is maintaining and taking care of is 2 115, and their area is 31,12 hectare.

Environmental Balance of accounts

The City of Turku has developed a system to follow up the environmental situation and the costs related in it. Information on energy expenditure, waste, air quality, recycling etc. is collected in from the different sectors/departments and reported each year to the public as well to the City Council. For example the recycling index of the community waste in 2003 was 56%.
