| Operational entity 3. Supporting WHO Themes |

The WHO Healthy Cities is facing a new phase. Phase V (2009-2013) begins and the cities willing to join the network have to apply for this coming phase. The core themes for the cities to promote have been discussed with the cities in 2007-2008 and decided by WHO in 2008. These three themes are: 1. Creating caring and supportive environments 2. Healthy Living 3. Healthy Urban Environment & Design These three themes are divided under several topics subthemes for cities to decide where to concentrate. The association will concentrate in the beginning of the phase on the themes familiar from the previous years. The year 2009 will set a new scene for the association to select new priorities among the new Healthy Cities themes according the feedback from the network cities, WHO and member organisations. The projects of the association concentrate in 2009 on the topic of physical activity / active living and prevention of HIV/AIDS. The themes will be discussed and altered during 2009 in accordance with updating the strategy of the association
