Baltic Region Healthy Cities Association celebrated 15 years PDF Print E-mail

Baltic Region Healthy Cities Association organized a jubilee seminar on 2 April to celebrate birthday of the Association. Speakers included the representatives of the members organizations: Professor Eva Österbacka (Åbo Akademi University), Professor Sanna Salanterä and Rector Kalervo Väänänen (University of Turku), Heikki Heilä (Social Insurance Institute of Finland) and Mayor Aleksi Randell (City of Turku). Host of the day was Maija Perho, chairman of the Association.

Coordinators of National Networks met in Copenhagen PDF Print E-mail

Coordinators of the National Networks of Healthy Cities from 16 countries gathered on 13-15 March 2013 in Copenhagen, Denmark for the training and sharing event – a seminar that has been organized annually since 2009. This year’s specific topics, aside from the strengthening of the networks’ cooperation, were: implementation of the new policy for health in WHO-Euro, Health 2020 – policy framework and strategy and community resilience.

Healthy Cities get new attention and interest in Latvia PDF Print E-mail

‘’Healthy Municipalities – experience and practices’’ was a title of the workshop for the municipalities of Latvia that took place on 5 – 6 March 2013 in Jurmala. The event was a join undertaking of WHO Country Office in Latvia, Latvian Ministry of Health, Disease Prevention and Control Centre, Jurmala City Municipality and Baltic Region Healthy Cities Association.

Volunteering and civil service in Healthy Cities PDF Print E-mail

‘’Volunteering and Community service – How to do it?’’ is the newest project of the Healthy Cities of the Czech Republic (HCCZ) which focuses on the contribution of the volunteer and civil service (performed by unemployed) to the development of municipality, community and individuals. The two-year project is conducted in the partnership with the Hestia – National Voluntary Centre in Czech Republic, C.A.R.D.O. – organization for volunteering development in Slovakia and abroad and Baltic Region Healthy Cities Association.
