WHO trains new generation of public health professionals PDF Print E-mail

The new WHO European health policy – Health 2020 was endorsed by 53 WHO-Euro Member States over two months ago and several activities that aim at capacity building of the public health experts are taking place right now in order to ensure better implementation of the strategy. One of the events was recent six-day intensive training course ‘’The New Policy for Health in Europe – Improving health for all and reducing health inequalities’’ organized by the WHO European Office for Investment for Health and Development in Venice in collaboration with the Tuscany Region in Italy. The training took place on 11 – 16 November 2012 in Florence.

Novel findings on the health benefits of Nordic walking PDF Print E-mail

According to a newly published study carried out by Finnish universities and institutions, Nordic walking produces many positive health effects in middle-aged men with increased risk for type 2 diabetes. A completely novel finding is that exercise decreases the serum concentration of chemerin which plays a role in the development of the metabolic syndrome.
